Nowra Regatta – 20th September

On Sunday 20th September,  Sussex Inlet River Dragons ventured to Nowra to form part of two composite teams with Narooma and Merimbula clubs.  The regatta, on the northern foreshores of the Shoalhaven just west of the bridge, enjoyed a beautiful morning and got off to a flying start.  Our mixed team, “ Southern Red”, won their first heat and all on board were ecstatic at this result.  The “Southern White” women’s team also won the second heat.  Unfortunately, the impetus couldn’t be maintained with crews who hadn’t paddled & trained together before, but we were happy to manage a second by the women’s team and a third by the mixed team in the finals. In their winning heat, the “Southern Reds” were privileged to include in the crew Southern Region Head Coach and former National Coach, Chris Cheung.
